Here are 10 grounded facts about the character, with later manga developments clearly marked as spoilers.

How Brainwashing works
6. A reply is the trigger
Shinso’s Quirk is called Brainwashing. Yomiuri TV describes it as allowing him to control a person who answers his question; a character reference further specifies that the response must be verbal. In other words, the useful opening is not simply hearing Shinso speak: the target has to respond. Yomiuri TV’s profile; My Hero Academia Wiki’s Shinso reference
7. The Quirk is deliberate, not an automatic effect of conversation
The reference says Shinso can choose whether to activate Brainwashing, so an ordinary exchange does not necessarily put the other speaker under his control. This distinction helps explain why his Quirk is a tactic rather than a constant hazard to everyone who talks with him. My Hero Academia Wiki’s Shinso reference

8. “Brainwashing” does not necessarily mean changing someone’s beliefs
The same reference distinguishes controlling a target’s actions from changing their thoughts or feelings. That is a narrower effect than the Quirk’s name might suggest; the reference is a fan-maintained source, so treat this fine-grained limitation as its description rather than a broader claim about every possible use. 9. The reference places his manga debut in chapter 33
A character-reference page identifies manga chapter 33 as Shinso’s debut. This chapter number comes from that secondary reference rather than an official chapter guide. My Hero Academia Wiki’s Shinso reference

10. Later training adds Persona Chords—and he appears in two licensed games
Manga-development spoiler: the character reference says Shinso later trains to use artificial vocal cords that let him imitate other voices and prompt opponents to answer. It names the technique Persona Chords. The cited reference does not establish which developments have been adapted in every current anime release, so manga readers should treat this as later-story information. Outside the story, Bandai Namco announced Shinso for Season 10 of My Hero Ultra Rumble and previously announced him as a DLC character for My Hero One’s Justice 2.
