Spoiler warning: This is a manga-complete ranking and discusses late-series abilities and developments. It is an editorial assessment, not an official franchise ranking: My Hero Academia’s official pages describe Quirks but do not publish a definitive danger order.
“Dangerous” is not the same as “strongest.” This ranking weighs potential harm and lethality, scale and range, speed and ease of activation, versatility, persistence, ability to bypass ordinary defenses, and the user’s control or practical constraints. These are qualitative criteria, not official measurements or a numerical danger score. A precise rule-changing ability can be more dangerous in a particular encounter than a larger blast; a transferable power can create risks beyond its immediate user.
How to read this ranking
In My Hero Academia, a Quirk is a supernatural ability. The official anime terminology page says Quirks typically manifest by about age four and that about 80% of the fictional population has one; that figure describes the story’s world, not real-world demographics. The range of abilities makes a single “strongest” answer misleading: Quirks can attack, disable, alter conditions, restore, or pass power onward.
The order below is an editorial judgment about danger across plausible uses, not a claim that each ability wins a fight against every lower-ranked one. The official material cited here does not provide a named statistic or canon list comparing Quirk danger.

The 10 most dangerous Quirks
1. Decay — Tomura Shigaraki
Decay ranks first for its catastrophic potential and the danger of direct contact. The official Shigaraki character profile associates the Quirk with the deaths of his family in childhood. Later manga developments show how far its destructive threat can extend, making it a danger not only to an individual target but to the surrounding environment. That scale and the difficulty of safely approaching its user place it at the top of this editorial list.
Its risk is also bound up with control: an ability that can devastate beyond a single intended target carries collateral danger. The childhood account is supported by the official profile; the broader late-series mechanics discussed here are manga spoilers.
2. New Order — Star and Stripe
New Order can impose a new rule on a target after Star and Stripe touches it and calls the target by name, according to her official character profile. The ability is dangerous because it can change the terms of an encounter rather than simply deliver a conventional attack. Its effects can be extraordinarily consequential, but the touch-and-name requirement is a real activation condition, not a detail to ignore when comparing it with more direct powers.
3. Rewind — Eri
Rewind can rewind people and objects. The official Eri profile says aspects of the ability remain unknown, so its limits should not be described as fully established. Its danger comes from the stakes of altering a target’s state: the series shows both the possibility of profound harm and the potential for restoration. That reversible-or-not distinction makes Rewind unusually consequential, while the uncertainty about its boundaries keeps any absolute claim in check.

4. One For All — Izuku Midoriya and its holders
One For All is dangerous in a different way from a direct destructive Quirk. The official terminology page describes it as a transferable power that accumulates strength across generations; it also says Izuku can use the Quirks of previous holders. A stockpile that can be passed on concentrates extraordinary capability in a succession of users, and its accumulated power can cause severe harm when wielded without sufficient control.
Its placement reflects both immediate force and the longer-term risk created by transfer. It is not simply a measure of who can produce the largest single attack.
5. All For One — All For One
All For One’s danger lies in its ability to take and give Quirks, allowing its user to accumulate abilities and alter who possesses them. That makes it a strategic threat as well as a combat power: it can expand the user’s options while depriving others of theirs. Its broad utility and potential to compound other powers make it more dangerous than a single-purpose attack, even though its effects depend on the Quirks acquired and the circumstances of their use.
6. Overhaul — Kai Chisaki
Overhaul can disassemble and reassemble matter through contact. That gives it a lethal close-range application, but also makes it versatile: the same underlying ability can destroy, reshape, or restore. Its need for contact is a meaningful constraint, yet once that condition is met the consequences can be immediate and extreme. The mix of lethality, precision, and reconstruction earns it a high place.

7. Brainwashing — Hitoshi Shinso
Brainwashing can take control of a person who responds to the user, making it a threat that bypasses ordinary physical defenses. Its activation condition gives opponents a way to resist if they understand the risk, but the danger is that a seemingly ordinary exchange can create an opening for control. The ability can disable a target without having to overpower them physically, which raises its danger beyond its apparent scale.
8. Explosion — Katsuki Bakugo
Explosion offers a highly adaptable offensive ability: it can be used for direct attacks, area pressure, and movement. Its destructive potential and versatility make it dangerous in combat, but its practical output is tied to the user’s physical capacity and control. Compared with Quirks that can alter a target or spread destruction through contact, its threat is more visibly tied to blasts and the user’s ability to deploy them.
9. Half-Cold Half-Hot — Shoto Todoroki
Half-Cold Half-Hot combines ice and fire, giving Todoroki both broad-area control and powerful attacks. Having two complementary modes increases versatility: he can shape the battlefield, obstruct movement, and apply heat or cold rather than relying on one kind of strike. Its placement reflects the scale and flexibility of the power, while the need to manage its effects and the surrounding conditions keeps it below Quirks with more direct rule-changing or persistent consequences.
10. Overclock — Number 6
Overclock dramatically accelerates the user’s perception and movement, creating a severe advantage in close-quarters encounters. It is dangerous because speed can make an opponent’s options disappear before they can respond, even without a large-area destructive effect. Its threat is concentrated in the user’s ability to act quickly rather than in changing the environment, so it closes the list rather than outranking Quirks with broader reach or more consequential effects.

Why “most dangerous” is not the same as “strongest”
Raw force is only one part of risk. Decay threatens the environment as well as a touched target; New Order can impose a rule but requires touch and the target’s name; Brainwashing exploits a response condition; One For All’s danger includes its transfer and accumulated power; Rewind introduces both extreme stakes and unknown limits. These abilities are difficult to compare as if they were entries on one objective scale.
A different ranking could result from narrowing the question. For a duel, activation speed and counterplay may matter most. For public safety, collateral scale and control matter more. For long-term consequences, transfer or the ability to permanently change a person may carry greater weight. The list therefore ranks broad danger across those dimensions, not a guaranteed winner in any specific matchup.
Where the official evidence ends
The official Star and Stripe profile establishes New Order’s touch-and-name condition; the official Eri profile states that aspects of Rewind remain unknown; and the official Shigaraki profile links Decay to his family’s deaths. Those are clear profile-level facts. The later mechanics and comparative placements in this manga-complete ranking are editorial readings of events in the story, not official assessments of relative danger.
Shueisha’s official listing says manga volume 41 was released on August 2, 2024, and covers chapters 411–422. That is publication metadata for late-series material, not proof that a volume contains every power or detail listed here. VIZ provides the official English-language series page for readers looking for the manga.
