My Father, the BTK Killer is a Netflix documentary about Kerri Rawson, the daughter of Dennis Rader, and the long personal aftermath of learning that her father was the BTK Killer. It revisits the Wichita murders through Rawson’s reflections, interviews with investigators, archival material and interrogation footage. Its documented focus is family, memory and healing—not a verified announcement that Rader committed additional murders.

What is My Father, the BTK Killer about?

Directed by Skye Borgman, the documentary centers on Rawson’s effort to understand her father’s crimes and their effect on her family, identity and memories. Netflix describes a film that combines her personal account with investigator interviews, archival photographs and sketches, and footage of Rader’s interrogation. It is therefore both a family story and a look back at the investigation, rather than only a retrospective interview with Rawson.

Netflix lists the film’s premiere date as October 10, 2025, and its runtime as 1 hour 34 minutes. Those details come from Netflix’s listing and do not establish current availability in every region. Netflix Tudum’s overview also includes Borgman’s account of her approach: “My role was to create a framework of care and integrity around a narrative that has too often been defined by others.” That is the director’s description of her intent, not independent proof of every editorial decision.

Who is Kerri Rawson?

Rawson is Dennis Rader’s daughter and the documentary’s central voice. In 2005, when her father was arrested and identified as BTK, she was recently married and expecting her first child, according to Netflix. The film follows the rupture between the father she knew as family and the man exposed as a serial murderer, and considers how that discovery shaped her understanding of her own life.

Rawson’s perspective also appears in her separate memoir, A Serial Killer’s Daughter: My Story of Faith, Love, and Overcoming. Google Books catalogs the Thomas Nelson 2019 edition at 336 pages. It is her own memoir, not a transcript or a book newly written for the documentary. Google Books’ catalog entry provides the publication details.

Who was the BTK Killer, and was he caught?

BTK stands for “Bind, Torture, Kill,” the name Dennis Rader used in connection with his crimes. Netflix says he murdered 10 people in the Wichita, Kansas, area between 1974 and 1991. He was arrested in 2005 after resuming communication with the media. Netflix’s account says investigators traced a floppy disk to his church and used DNA evidence to connect him to crime scenes. These are the case facts as summarized in Netflix’s official documentary overview; its article is also promotional material, not an independent case record.

What does Rawson learn about her father?

The documentary’s official description supports a careful answer: Rawson revisits what she knew about her father, the investigation and the consequences of his crimes, but the available account does not establish a complete list of new discoveries. It would be misleading to describe the film as proving that Rader committed additional murders or as resolving specific cold-case suspicions.

Netflix’s 2025 interview with Borgman says Rawson confronted Rader in prison about possible involvement in other crimes. It also says she chose distance and stepped back from being an information conduit for investigators. This is an update attributed to Netflix and Borgman in 2025, not a fresh account of Rawson’s status in 2026. Possible involvement is not the same as a confirmed link to another crime.

What the documentary adds to the story

The clearest contribution described by Netflix is perspective: Rawson’s experience of learning the truth about her father and living with its consequences is placed alongside interviews and archival material about the case. The film’s structure brings family memory into contact with the investigation, including interrogation footage, without making Rawson responsible for resolving every unanswered question surrounding her father.

Netflix flags the film for trauma, emotional distress and graphic descriptions and imagery. Viewers who are sensitive to those subjects may want to take that warning into account.
