The trailer announcement looked back to the period before the familiar characters called Pride Rock home; Disney framed the film itself as the story of how an orphaned cub became king.
What does the Mufasa trailer reveal?
Disney’s official trailer page describes the film as the story of “how an orphan became a King.” Its synopsis follows young Mufasa, orphaned and alone, until he meets Taka, an heir to a royal bloodline. Their meeting sets them on a journey with a group of misfits, whose bonds are tested when they face a dangerous foe.

The film uses a framing story: Rafiki tells Mufasa’s legend to Kiara in flashbacks, with Timon and Pumbaa adding humor. Disney’s trailer announcement said it revisited Mufasa, Scar, Sarabi, Rafiki, and Zazu before they made Pride Rock their home. The official materials establish that premise and character focus, but do not provide a scene-by-scene account of the trailer.
Who voices young Mufasa and Taka?
Aaron Pierre voices Mufasa, while Kelvin Harrison Jr. voices Taka, who is later known as Scar. Disney presents Taka as a sympathetic young lion and royal heir in the origin story, rather than treating the two names as interchangeable throughout the film.
