Associated Press informó el 17 de mayo de 2025 que la causa de la muerte de Werenoi no se había hecho pública. AP y Le Monde describieron la información disponible en sus publicaciones de mayo de 2025; esas noticias no establecen si se difundieron datos oficiales posteriormente. No hay base en esas fuentes para atribuirle una causa médica concreta.
Quién era Werenoi
Nacido en Montreuil, Jérémy Bana Owona creó su carrera bajo el nombre Werenoi. El Ministerio de Cultura francés señaló que fundó PGP Records en 2020 y lo describió como una figura destacada de la nueva escena del rap francés. En el comunicado ministerial, la ministra Rachida Dati escribió: “Jérémy Bana Owona, connu sous le nom de scène Werenoi, nous a tragiquement quittés cette nuit à l’âge de 31 ans.”
Sus álbumes y su éxito en Francia
Entre los álbumes destacados de su carrera están Carré (2023), Pyramide (2024) y Diamant Noir (2025), según AP. Sus resultados reflejan distintas métricas: posiciones en listas y ventas contabilizadas no son equivalentes a reproducciones por separado.

En junio de 2025, el productor Babs comunicó, tras consultar con la familia, que las creaciones musicales realizadas por Werenoi en vida continuarían disponibles. Le Parisien reprodujo su declaración: “En concertation avec sa famille, et dans le respect de son œuvre, toutes les créations musicales de Werenoi réalisées de son vivant continueront d’être disponibles.” El anuncio no identifica plataformas concretas ni confirma el estado actual de cada catálogo.
