Mortal Kombat II is framed as a fight for Earthrealm, with returning champions joined by Johnny Cage to face Shao Kahn. Warner Bros.’ official trailer description calls the conflict a “gory battle”; that is studio promotional language, not an independent assessment of the footage.
What the official trailer establishes
The trailer’s official description sets up the sequel around the returning champions and the arrival of Johnny Cage. Together, they are pitted against one another in a battle to stop Shao Kahn’s rule, which the studio says threatens Earthrealm and its defenders. The film’s official site gives the same central stakes: Shao Kahn’s rule endangers Earthrealm.

Warner Bros.’ trailer description characterizes the contest as an “ultimate, no-holds barred, gory battle.” That is the studio’s own promotional wording. The available source details do not independently establish particular fatalities, fight choreography, or how much violence appears in the footage, so those should not be treated as verified scene-by-scene descriptions here.
Who is Johnny Cage in Mortal Kombat II?
Johnny Cage is the new addition singled out in the official premise: he joins the returning champions as they confront Shao Kahn. Warner Bros. identifies Karl Urban as the actor playing Cage.
