Monkey D. Luffy is the subject of a licensed One Piece × NBA merchandise collaboration, not a return to an NBA roster or a basketball event. The collection includes team-branded articulated S.H.Figuarts figures and a separate, smaller LUFFY’s line. Official Japanese product pages list different prices and release schedules by item, while warning that regional availability and conditions can vary.
What the One Piece × NBA collection includes
The collaboration is merchandise: Luffy appears in NBA team designs across more than one collectible format. Tamashii Nations lists S.H.Figuarts versions for the Los Angeles Lakers, New York Knicks, Golden State Warriors, Boston Celtics and Oklahoma City Thunder. The Lakers listing describes an articulated figure with a team-logo display stand and basketball-themed articulation (Lakers S.H.Figuarts listing; Warriors listing; Thunder listing).
A different product, LUFFY’s ONE PIECE×NBA -Uniform Icon Edition-, is a compact 1/20-scale collectible rather than an articulated S.H.Figuarts figure. Its official Japanese page shows ten team uniform designs, with the uniform design on both sides and an NBA logo on the back (Uniform Icon Edition listing).

Which NBA team versions are listed?
The official S.H.Figuarts product pages reviewed name five team versions: Lakers, Knicks, Warriors, Celtics and Thunder. The separately listed Uniform Icon Edition covers ten team uniform designs, but the cited page summary does not name all ten teams. Check the product listing for the specific design and your region rather than assuming every team version is offered in every market.
Independent reader supportYour contribution helps us test, update, and keep practical guides available for everyone. What to know before looking for one
- Choose by format first: S.H.Figuarts is the articulated figure line; LUFFY’s Uniform Icon Edition is a much smaller 1/20-scale collectible.
- For the Lakers figure, the listing specifies a basketball and display stand among its contents. The Warriors listing explicitly says the basketball goal set is sold separately.
- Use the official regional product page to verify local availability, pricing, preorder status and release timing. Japanese preorder windows and shipment dates do not establish current inventory elsewhere.
- The cited official listings document the current products, but do not establish when or whether Luffy previously appeared in an NBA crossover. “Returns” is therefore headline framing, not a verified history of an earlier NBA collaboration.
Tamashii Nations describes the LUFFY’s concept as “a product that remembers the adventures you and ONE PIECE go on together” (official product page).
