The “no Season 2 order” update about Monarch: Legacy of Monsters was made in January 2024, not after the show’s current season was announced. Apple later confirmed Season 2, with a global premiere date of February 27, 2026.
What Chris Black said about Season 2 in January 2024
In a TVLine interview published January 10, 2024, showrunner Chris Black said, “We do not have a Season 2 order.” He also said the show had done well and that the team was “optimistic and excited,” adding, “We feel we have more story to tell.” (TVLine)

That was a snapshot of the show’s status at the time: the team had not received an order for another season, but Black said they wanted to continue the story. It should not be read as a current statement about whether Season 2 would happen.
Apple later announced Season 2
Apple subsequently announced the second season. Its January 2026 press announcement identified Chris Black as showrunner for Season 2 and gave its global premiere date as February 27, 2026. (Apple TV Press)
