The statement said Henry was in intensive care, under neurological monitoring and receiving 24-hour specialist supervision. It described a plan for her to travel to Jamaica with a medical escort and be transferred directly to a hospital for continued treatment. Those details describe the update at that time, not her present clinical condition.
What has Henry said about her recovery?
In an interview published September 24, 2026, Henry told ABC News that she continued to experience severe pain and nights when she could not sleep. She described the experience as “one of the most traumatizing things” and said, “I would not wish it on my worst enemy.” Her interview provides a later personal account, but the cited coverage does not include a current medical examination or prognosis.

Is Gabrielle Henry suing Miss Universe?
ABC reported that Henry filed a lawsuit on September 21, 2026, against the Miss Universe Organization, JKN Legacy Inc. and Legacy Holding Group USA. The reported claims include negligence-related allegations and claims of intentional and negligent infliction of emotional distress. They remain allegations; the cited reporting does not describe a court ruling.
ABC said the organization told it that it had not received the lawsuit and could not comment on claims it had not seen. Henry told ABC she had received little feedback after returning to Jamaica about continuing expenses. The organization said it had not received an additional expense request or claim. The December 2025 joint statement had said the organization would cover treatment, rehabilitation, travel and family accommodation costs in Thailand and future incident-related medical expenses.
