Minions & Monsters opened in U.S. theaters on July 1, 2026. Illumination’s official film page features the trailer, and Peacock lists U.S. streaming from October 28, 2026. The animated comedy follows Minions James and Henry as their attempt to make a monster movie unleashes real creatures.

Illumination’s official film page includes an Official Trailer section. Universal Pictures UK has also identified an Official Trailer and a Final Trailer. The studio’s trailer description frames the story as a rise to Hollywood stardom, a fall from fame, and a monster-filled attempt to save the planet.
What is Minions & Monsters about?
Set in Hollywood at the dawn of cinema, the film introduces James and Henry, two Minions who become movie stars after appearing accidentally on camera. Their popularity fades as silent films give way to talkies: the pair cannot follow scripts in Minionese and are left behind by the industry.
They decide to make a monster movie of their own. A spellbook brings actual creatures into the story, and the Minions must work together to stop the chaos from threatening the world. The plot uses the shift from silent pictures to sound films as the backdrop for slapstick and a filmmaking adventure. The Associated Press describes the period as Hollywood’s Golden Age.

The dates for digital and disc editions come from Universal Pictures Home Entertainment’s announcement, reproduced by Screen-Connections. Peacock lists the film as PG, with a runtime of 1 hour 30 minutes. Its physical-release announcement gives format-specific runtimes of 1:29:49 for 4K UHD and Blu-ray and 1:29:54 for DVD.
What the home editions include
The announced disc formats are 4K UHD, Blu-ray and DVD. The release announcement describes extras such as behind-the-scenes material, a filmmaking activity, drawing instruction and a slime activity. Some bonuses are offered through participating retailers, so the announcement does not guarantee that every edition includes every extra. Its content descriptors are violence/action, language, and rude or macabre humor.
