The Indianapolis Star, in a report carried by Yahoo, described the series as three weeks of programming: Mina renovated a lake house in Indiana, while Karen worked on a beach bungalow in Wilmington, North Carolina. The Indianapolis Star via Yahoo.
How the projects differed
| Renovator | Project | Location |
|---|---|---|
| Mina Starsiak Hawk | Lake house | Indiana |
| Karen E. Laine | Beach bungalow | Wilmington, North Carolina |
The series was a past, limited return to the Good Bones world—not an announcement of a new show now in production. HGTV press archive.
#1 Best Overall
Are Mina Starsiak Hawk and Karen E. Laine returning to HGTV together?
There is no confirmed new joint Mina-and-Karen series in the current HGTV programming information. The network’s “coming up” page lists Mina in Rock the Block Season 8 alongside Scott McGillivray; it does not identify Karen as her teammate. HGTV’s coming-up page.
A January 2026 TV Insider report said Mina and Karen had begun reconnecting and were amicable over the holidays. That is a dated account of their personal relationship, not confirmation that they are filming together or that HGTV has commissioned another spinoff. TV Insider.
Rank #2
What is Mina returning for?
HGTV’s current listing is for Rock the Block Season 8, with Mina paired with Scott McGillivray. This is distinct from Good Bones: New Beginnings: the 2024 limited series followed Mina and Karen on separate renovations, while the current listing places Mina in a competition series with a different co-star. HGTV’s coming-up page.
Good Bones itself follows Mina and Karen as they revitalize Indianapolis properties. HGTV’s Good Bones page. The title’s “return” claim therefore needs a date: the separate-state spinoff was in 2024, and the currently listed HGTV appearance is Mina’s Rock the Block Season 8 role—not a newly announced joint return with her mother.
