Australian actor Milly Alcock stars as Kara Zor-El, better known as Supergirl, in DC Studios’ Supergirl. Craig Gillespie directs from a screenplay by Ana Nogueira, with James Gunn and Peter Safran producing. DC says the film adapts Tom King and Bilquis Evely’s comic series Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow.
Who is playing Supergirl?
Milly Alcock plays both Supergirl and her Kryptonian identity, Kara Zor-El, in DC Studios’ film. Alcock is an Australian actor whose character also appeared in a cameo in Superman, according to a DC interview published December 11, 2025. DC’s official film page lists Alcock in the starring role.
What is the Supergirl movie about?
DC describes Kara as reluctantly joining an unlikely companion on an interstellar journey of vengeance and justice after a ruthless adversary strikes close to home. The premise puts the film’s emphasis on a personal journey rather than simply presenting Kara as a straightforward counterpart to Superman.
Alcock described her interpretation of Kara as cynical and guarded, shaped by growing up on a dying planet and losing everyone she knew and loved. That is the actor’s characterization of the role, not a separate plot synopsis.
