What Miley Cyrus won at the 2024 Grammys
At the 66th Annual Grammy Awards in Los Angeles on February 4, 2024, “Flowers” won Record of the Year. The Recording Academy’s winners list credits Miley Cyrus as the artist, Kid Harpoon and Tyler Johnson as producers, Michael Pollack, Brian Rajaratnam and Mark “Spike” Stent as engineers and mixers, and Joe LaPorta as mastering engineer.
Cyrus also won Best Pop Solo Performance for “Flowers.” The Recording Academy described the two awards as the first Grammy wins of her career. The recognition was for the recording “Flowers,” not for the album Endless Summer Vacation.

The Recording Academy reproduced this excerpt from Cyrus’s acceptance speech:

“This award is amazing,” she said in her Record Of The Year acceptance speech. “But I really hope that it doesn’t change anything, because my life was beautiful yesterday. Not everyone in the world will get a GRAMMY, but everyone in this world is spectacular. So please don’t think that this is important, even though this is very important, right guys? We’re very excited to put this on the piano.”
The Recording Academy’s account of her Grammy night includes the excerpt; the official acceptance-speech video was published February 4, 2024. The Associated Press separately quoted Cyrus saying she hoped the award would not change anything because “my life was beautiful yesterday.”

Why didn’t Miley Cyrus thank her dad?
Contemporaneous coverage noted that Cyrus did not name Billy Ray Cyrus in her Record of the Year speech. That confirms the observable omission, not its cause. The available sources do not explain why she left him out, so the speech alone is not evidence of a feud, estrangement or retaliation.
Without a stated reason from Cyrus or other substantiated reporting, any explanation would be speculation. The careful answer is that she did not mention her father in that speech, and her motive is not established.
