Miley Cyrus’s documented 2021 highlights included a Metallica cover, a remix with The Kid LAROI, touring and festival appearances, and an NBC New Year’s Eve special co-hosted with Pete Davidson. These are notable, source-supported milestones—not a complete account of everything she did that year.
What music did Miley Cyrus release in 2021?
“Nothing Else Matters” with musicians from several rock worlds
Cyrus released a cover of Metallica’s “Nothing Else Matters” as a single in June 2021. The recording brought together Elton John on piano, Red Hot Chili Peppers drummer Chad Smith, Metallica bassist Robert Trujillo and cellist Yo-Yo Ma. Elton John’s year-in-review describes the release and its contributors: Elton John’s 2021 year-in-review.

The cover also appeared on The Metallica Blacklist, a tribute album featuring artists interpreting songs from Metallica’s 1991 self-titled album. Sony Music Canada’s retrospective also identifies Cyrus’s version as part of the project: Sony Music Canada’s retrospective.
“Without You” remix with The Kid LAROI
In 2021, Cyrus joined The Kid LAROI on a remix of “Without You.” Sony Music Canada later reported that the remix debuted at number one on Billboard’s Rock chart. The passage does not give a chart date or a more exact chart title, so the claim is best kept at that level of specificity. Sony Music Canada’s retrospective.

Was Miley Cyrus touring in 2021?
Yes. Sony Music Canada’s retrospective describes Cyrus as spending much of 2021 touring and playing festival headlining slots, including a run in Latin America. It does not provide a complete dated itinerary, so specific dates and venues cannot be established from that account. The retrospective also mentions a cumulative audience figure for festival appearances without clearly limiting it to 2021; that number should not be read as a 2021-only total. Sony Music Canada’s retrospective.
What television appearance did she make?
Cyrus co-hosted NBC’s New Year’s Eve special with Pete Davidson. Sony Music Canada’s retrospective names performers and guests associated with the special, including Sia, Latto, Rae Sremmurd, David Byrne, Liily, Fletcher, Paris Hilton and cast members of Saturday Night Live. The account does not establish a full production chronology or all broadcast details. Sony Music Canada’s retrospective.

How complete is this 2021 timeline?
The available official accounts support a focused look at several music, touring and television highlights, not a verified inventory of every release, appearance, performance or personal milestone. They do not establish a comprehensive 2021 chronology, and the points above should not be taken to mean no other activity occurred.
