Fleetwood’s on Front Street, Mick Fleetwood’s restaurant and bar in Lahaina, was lost in the 2023 fires. Fleetwood publicly expressed heartbreak and concern for his staff; a later CBS Sunday Morning listing described him as determined to rebuild. As of Maui Now’s August 2026 report, the building shell had survived and restoration approvals were still in progress. The sources cited here do not confirm that the restaurant has reopened or provide an opening date.

What happened to Fleetwood’s on Front Street?

The restaurant stood at 744 Front Street in Lahaina. It was lost in the 2023 wildfires. In a statement reported by RTÉ on August 11, 2023, Fleetwood said: “Maui and the Lahaina community have been my home for several decades. Fleetwood’s on Front Street has been lost and while we are heartbroken, our main priority is the safety of our dear staff and team members.” RTÉ reported the statement.

What has Fleetwood said about rebuilding?

A 2026 CBS Sunday Morning segment listing, titled “Mick Fleetwood plays to the future in Maui,” describes the restaurant as destroyed by the fires and says Fleetwood is determined to rebuild. The listing supports that summary, but no direct interview quotation is included here.

The article title’s contrast with other celebrities should be read as framing, not as a documented comparison. The cited coverage records Fleetwood’s response; it does not systematically compare his public statements with those of other celebrities.

Is Fleetwood’s on Front Street open now?

Maui Now’s report, published August 2 and updated August 5, 2026, said the Fleetwood building shell was the only building standing in that block after the fire. The report said restoration was “a little more complicated” and that the property was among two then nearing historical-district approval. It did not report that the restaurant had reopened or establish that construction had begun. Maui Now’s report on Front Street rebuilding.

Front Street’s reopening to vehicular traffic on August 1, 2026, was a road-access milestone, not confirmation that individual businesses had resumed operations. Maui County announced the road reopening after recovery-related road and seawall work. The County of Maui’s announcement concerns street access, not Fleetwood’s operating status.

The official Mick’s House of Fleetwood contact page lists a Lahaina address and store hours for the General Store. Those details do not establish that the restaurant has reopened. Mick’s House of Fleetwood contact page.

Why has commercial rebuilding taken time?

Lahaina’s commercial recovery involves more than restoring standing walls. Maui Now and the Hawai‘i Journalism Initiative reported in 2026 that work has been slowed by historic-district and other permits, archaeological inventory surveys, coastal and flood-related constraints, and limited availability of archaeologists. Their report put the number of destroyed commercial and public buildings in the burn zone at about 140. That figure describes the wider recovery, not Fleetwood’s building alone.
