It is a secondary outlet’s estimate—not an audited valuation or a financial disclosure from Richards—and the public sources reviewed do not establish his actual assets or debts.
How much did Michael Richards earn from Seinfeld?
Richards’s reported Seinfeld salary helps explain why estimates of his wealth circulate, but salary is not the same thing as net worth. The figures below describe reported or estimated earnings from the show, not what Richards currently owns.

| Figure | What it refers to | Source and qualification |
|---|---|---|
| $600,000 per episode | Richards’s reported salary for the final season of Seinfeld | Time reported this amount for Richards and the other principal supporting cast members. Celebrity Net Worth also reports it. |
| Approximately $45 million | Estimated base salary over the series’ full run | Celebrity Net Worth estimates this total for Richards and the other supporting stars; it is not a verified personal earnings statement. |
Neither figure accounts for taxes, professional expenses, spending, investments, income from other work, or liabilities. They therefore cannot establish Richards’s current financial position.
Why the estimate should be treated cautiously
A net-worth figure requires information about both assets and debts. The public material cited here supplies no audited statement or primary financial filing that verifies Richards’s current net worth. Celebrity Net Worth’s estimate is consequently best understood as a published estimate, not a confirmed balance sheet. Parade’s 2026 coverage also discusses his wealth in the context of Seinfeld, but the reviewed sources do not provide two comparably authoritative, independently verified net-worth figures from which to calculate a reliable range.

What is known about Richards’s career
Richards is best known for playing Cosmo Kramer on Seinfeld. His publisher describes him as a three-time Emmy-winning actor, and the Television Academy’s biography and awards record documents his Emmy history. These career facts help explain his public profile; they do not verify a particular net-worth estimate.
Richards’s memoir, Entrances and Exits, is discussed in a 2024 AARP interview, which also covers his career and retirement. The book offers further context about his life, not proof of a specific financial figure.
