The Ronald Reagan Presidential Foundation and Institute announced his death on January 6.
What is known about Michael Reagan’s death
AP and ABC News reported that Reagan died in Los Angeles, surrounded by family. His wife and children said he “was and will always remain a beloved husband, father, and grandpa,” according to AP. The Foundation’s January 6 announcement did not give a medical cause of death; AP reported that a cause had not been immediately announced.
Who was Michael Reagan?
The Foundation described Reagan as the eldest son of Ronald Reagan and Jane Wyman. AP reported that he was born to Irene Flaugher and adopted by Ronald Reagan and Wyman shortly after birth.
His career and books
Reagan was an author, nationally syndicated radio talk show host, and public speaker, according to the Foundation. AP also described him as a conservative commentator and reported that he worked with the Reagan Legacy Foundation and supported fundraising and charitable causes.

His autobiographical books included On the Outside Looking In and Twice Adopted. In 2016, he published Lessons My Father Taught Me, reflecting on his father and Ronald Reagan’s legacy.

Fred Ryan, chairman of the board of the Ronald Reagan Presidential Foundation and Institute, said: “Michael Reagan lived a life shaped by conviction, purpose, and an abiding devotion to President Reagan’s ideals.”

The Foundation’s statement also recalled Ronald Reagan’s words about his son in An American Life: “When I read his book, I had even more of a fatherly pride in Mike than I had had before…. he was happy and at peace with himself.”
