Meri Fitrat Hai Mastana is a Hindi poetry collection by lyricist Manoj Muntashir, published by Vani Prakashan and presented as ghazal and nazm poetry. Its defining context is that it brings together work written over about two decades, rather than poems originally composed as a single book. It is most likely to suit readers comfortable with Hindi and drawn to emotionally charged poetry; the available reader comments suggest themes including love, separation, patriotism and soldier life, but do not establish how much space each occupies.
What kind of poetry collection is it?
Vani Prakashan identifies the book as a ghazal collection in its 2019 sample, while publisher and author materials also describe the work in terms of ghazal and nazm. That makes it a collection to approach as poetry, not as a continuous narrative or a documentary account. Readers who know Muntashir chiefly through film lyrics may find the book a way to encounter his personal poetry, but the available sources do not establish that the poems follow the conventions of any single poetic form throughout.

Muntashir explained the book’s origins in a 2019 interview: “Meri Fitrat Hai Mastana” was never written as a book. It’s more of a compilation which encapsulates my work over the last 20 years. That framing is useful: the collection gathers writing across a long period rather than presenting itself as a project conceived in one stretch. What readers may respond to
Comments on Goodreads and Google Play Books show varied, personal responses rather than a single consensus. Readers have used phrases such as “heart touching” and “written on me”; another Goodreads comment says, “Lacks the certain depth but still there are some gems.” Other reader comments mention emotional intensity, heartbreak, love tragedy, Hindi-language appeal, patriotism and soldier life. These are individual reactions, not evidence that every poem treats those subjects or that one theme dominates the book. Goodreads reader page; Google Play Books listing.

That range points to a practical fit question: do you want poetry that readers describe as emotionally direct, and are you comfortable reading Hindi? If so, the collection may be worth exploring. If you prefer a tightly unified sequence with a clearly signposted narrative arc, Muntashir’s account of the book as a compilation suggests a different expectation is appropriate.

Verdict: who should read it?
Meri Fitrat Hai Mastana is a reasonable choice for readers seeking Hindi poetry by a writer better known for film lyrics, especially if they enjoy emotionally intense work and are open to a collection assembled from writing across many years. The public reader responses offer hints about its emotional range, but they cannot substitute for reading the poems or establish the book’s overall balance.
