That does not necessarily mean Mercado Livre suddenly downgraded every subscriber. Disney launched its ad-supported Latin American tier in 2024, and Mercado Livre continues to distribute that tier through Meli+ Total. Meli+ Mega also lists Disney+, but its public plan summary does not identify the exact Disney+ tier, so check the tier shown in your account or checkout before subscribing.
What changed—and what did not
There are several different situations that can look like “Mercado Livre added ads.” Disney may offer multiple subscription tiers; Mercado Livre may change the benefit attached to a Meli+ plan; an account may move between Meli+ tiers; or a short promotion may end. None of those facts alone proves that an existing subscriber was personally downgraded.

Mercado Livre’s current Brazilian plan page explicitly labels the Meli+ Total benefit as Disney+ Padrão com anúncios. The Disney and Mercado Livre partnership was announced on June 24, 2024, for Argentina, Brazil, Mexico, Chile and Colombia, as part of Disney’s ad-supported Disney+ rollout in Latin America. Which Meli+ plan includes Disney+ with ads?

Entertainment benefits are associated with Meli+ Total or Meli+ Mega, not the publicly described Essencial plan. Plan names, eligibility and prices can vary by country, account and date, so use the final checkout screen as the controlling information. The public page currently advertises plans from R$9.90 and discounts of up to 65%; those are promotional signals, not a universal regular price.

What “Disney+ with ads” means
On-demand programs
The included Meli+ Total tier is the Standard with Ads service. Commercial interruptions can appear in supported on-demand content. Disney determines the number, length and placement of advertising, which can vary by market and program. Do not assume an identical ad load for every title.
Live sports and events
Advertising can also be part of live broadcasts independently of the viewer’s normal subscription tier. Mercado Livre’s Disney-related terms state that sports and live events may contain advertising. A commercial break, sponsorship or promotion during a live event therefore does not by itself show that your account was moved to an ad-supported tier. See Mercado Livre’s applicable terms.

Features that may differ
Downloads, playback quality, simultaneous streams, device support and access to particular sports or live content can differ between Disney+ tiers and regions. Confirm those features in the terms attached to your account instead of inferring them from the word “Disney+.”
How to activate Disney+ through Meli+
- Subscribe to, or confirm eligibility for, Meli+ Total or Meli+ Mega.
- Open the entertainment-benefits area in Mercado Livre, in the app or on the desktop website.
- Select Disney+ and choose the activation option.
- Link an existing Disney+ account or create a new one.
- Sign in to Disney+ with the linked account and verify the profile, plan and next charge.
Button names can differ between the app, browser and individual accounts. Mercado Livre says existing platform accounts can generally be linked, allowing the user to retain profiles and viewing history. Check that the email address is correct before creating a second account.

If you already pay Disney+ separately
“Included with Meli+” does not automatically stop another company from billing you. A direct Disney+ subscription—or one supplied by a mobile carrier, pay-TV operator or another provider—may need to be canceled separately to avoid duplicate charges. Mercado Livre’s FAQ warns that users with a higher direct Disney+ tier may need to cancel that subscription before relying on the included benefit.
Do not cancel the old subscription until the Meli+ Disney+ activation has completed successfully. Then check both billing accounts, the next renewal dates and the tier attached to the linked Disney+ account.

Can you remove the ads?
Upgrade offers
Mercado Livre has published time-limited upgrade promotions from Standard with Ads or Standard to Premium. For example, terms covering May 20–June 17, 2026 listed two months at R$19.90 for Premium and R$17.90 for Standard without ads for eligible users; another listed Standard with Ads at R$15.90 for two months. Those dates have passed, and the examples are not current prices or a permanent upgrade rate. Eligibility and available offers are account-specific. Review the live offer and its post-promotion price before accepting.
Choose a different subscription route
If you need a clearly identified ad-free or premium tier, subscribing directly to Disney+ can provide more control over plan selection. Meli+ Mega should not be described as ad-free solely because it lists Disney+: the public summary does not specify its Disney+ tier.

Promotions, billing and cancellation
Mercado Livre’s legal terms repeatedly state that promotional prices last for a limited period and then revert to the regular price in force unless the subscriber cancels under the applicable rules. Some offers exclude new Meli+ subscriptions, annual plans or upgrades from Meli+ Essencial. Read the terms attached to your account at checkout at Mercado Livre’s legal page.
- Record the promotional price, end date and regular renewal price.
- Confirm whether billing is monthly or annual.
- Check which Meli+ tier is selected.
- Verify whether taxes or account-specific conditions affect the displayed total.
- After canceling, confirm the effective end date and whether Disney+ access ends immediately or at the paid period’s end.
Is Meli+ Total worth it?
Likely a good fit
- You shop frequently on Mercado Livre and use its delivery, payment or cashback benefits.
- You want Disney+ and accept the Standard with Ads experience.
- The combined value of the marketplace benefits and Disney+ exceeds what you currently pay separately.
Probably a poor fit
- You specifically require ad-free Disney+.
- You rarely use Mercado Livre’s shopping or payment services.
- You already receive Disney+ through a carrier, pay-TV provider, bank or another bundle.
- You are comparing only the introductory price and not the regular renewal amount.
When Mega may make sense
Meli+ Mega is more relevant for households that would otherwise pay for Disney+, Netflix, HBO Max and Apple TV. Its value is harder to calculate because the public page does not identify every streaming tier and you may pay for services you do not use. Confirm the exact Disney+ tier and total renewal price first.
Common problems to check
- Duplicate billing: a direct or third-party Disney+ subscription remains active.
- Wrong account: a new Disney+ account was created instead of linking the existing one.
- Unexpected ads: Meli+ Total provides Standard with Ads, or a live event contains its own advertising.
- Unexpected renewal: a short promotion ended and the regular price began.
- Missing benefit: the account is on Meli+ Essencial or the offer is unavailable for that account or country.
- Lost access after cancellation: canceling Meli+ can remove the associated entertainment benefit under the applicable terms.
Bottom line for Brazilian subscribers
Meli+ Total currently includes Disney+ Standard with Ads—not a guaranteed ad-free Disney+ subscription. The arrangement is rooted in the 2024 Latin American partnership, so describing it as a brand-new universal downgrade is misleading without account-specific evidence. Compare the post-promotion price, your existing billing arrangements and the value of Mercado Livre’s shopping benefits. If ad-free viewing is essential, verify a live upgrade offer or choose a direct Disney+ plan instead.
