Why is Mehcad Brooks leaving?

TheWrap reported that David Ajala joined Law & Order as a Season 25 series regular. His casting supplied the new-detective context following Shaw’s departure. The report does not establish that Ajala’s character is a direct replacement for Shaw in the story.
