Megyn Kelly learned of reports that Charlie Kirk had died while speaking with Glenn Beck during a live episode of The Megyn Kelly Show on September 10, 2025. “They’re reporting that Charlie has died,” she said, according to contemporaneous coverage. Kelly’s official channel later described the program’s closing message as a reflection on Kirk’s life and legacy.
What happened during the live broadcast?
Kelly was livestreaming breaking-news coverage of the shooting and talking with Glenn Beck when reports of Kirk’s death reached her. AOL reported on September 11, 2025, that Kelly announced the reports through tears. The reported words were: “They’re reporting that Charlie has died.” AOL’s contemporaneous account describes the moment.
The available account establishes what Kelly said, but not a complete transcript or the announcement’s precise in-stream timestamp. The official channel’s video page dates the related closing message to September 10 and describes it as a message about Kirk’s life and legacy: the official video page.
What did Kelly say about Kirk afterward?
In an official reflection dated September 10, Kelly wrote, “Our hearts are broken right now.” She described the loss as personal for many people and directed attention to Kirk’s family. Kelly’s reflection is also her personal account of Kirk: she wrote that he loved debating on college campuses, appearing on her show, and taking part in Turning Point events, while loving his family and God most. Those descriptions should be understood as Kelly’s recollections, not as independently verified biography.
