Yes. A federal jury found Milagro Elizabeth Cooper liable to Megan Pete, professionally known as Megan Thee Stallion, for defamation, intentional infliction of emotional distress, and promoting an altered sexual depiction. The jury’s damages verdict totaled $75,000. The court initially entered judgment for $59,000 on two claims, then, according to a May 29, 2026 report, reinstated the full $75,000 after ruling that Cooper was not entitled to a media-defendant notice protection.
What the jury decided
The case was Pete v. Cooper, No. 1:24-cv-24228, in the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of Florida. Pete sued Milagro Elizabeth Cooper, publicly known as Milagro Gramz or Mobz World. The jury found Cooper liable on three claims:
- Defamation per se, concerning statements about Pete’s credibility.
- Intentional infliction of emotional distress.
- Promotion of an altered sexual depiction under Florida Statute § 836.13.
The jury’s verdict form assigned damages totaling $75,000. That is the jury’s figure; it is distinct from the amount entered in the court’s first judgment.
Why the first judgment was $59,000
On December 2, 2025, the court entered judgment for Pete on the emotional-distress and altered-sexual-depiction claims, awarding $59,000. It did not then enter judgment on defamation. The court said the jury had classified Cooper as a media defendant and Pete had not provided the pre-suit notice Florida law required for that claim.

That procedural ruling meant the initial judgment did not match the jury’s $75,000 damages total. The two figures refer to different stages of the case, not conflicting descriptions of the jury’s verdict.
The later ruling reinstated the full verdict
In a May 29, 2026 report, Law360 said Judge Cecilia Altonaga reinstated the full $75,000 verdict, including the defamation portion. The report said the judge concluded Cooper was not entitled to the media-defendant notice protection because the trial record showed she had been commissioned by the Petersons to publish the statements. The underlying 2026 order is not available in the cited reporting, so this later development is best described as a reported ruling rather than a quotation from the order.

What the case does—and does not—establish
The verdict is a case-specific civil finding about Cooper’s statements and online promotion of an altered, sexually explicit depiction. It is not a nationwide rule that every discussion, repost, or mention of a deepfake violates Florida law. The outcome turns on the claims and facts in this lawsuit, including the separate procedural issue that changed the initial judgment.
ABC News quoted Pete’s attorney Mari Henderson saying, “We’re thankful for the jury’s commitment to reinforcing the importance of truth, accountability and responsible commentary on social media.” Henderson also said, “This verdict sends a clear message that spreading dangerous misinformation carries significant consequences.” Those are the attorney’s characterizations of the verdict, not statements by the judge.
