On January 9, 2025, Los Angeles Superior Court Judge Richard Bloom granted Megan Thee Stallion a five-year restraining order against Tory Lanez. The order runs through January 9, 2030, according to the Associated Press. It is a protective order, separate from Lanez’s criminal case and appeal.
What the court ordered
Megan Thee Stallion, whose legal name is Megan Pete, filed for a new protective order in December 2024. After a hearing on January 9, 2025, Judge Richard Bloom granted her request for five years. That makes “wins” a fair shorthand for the result, but the legal outcome was the granting of a restraining order after a hearing—not a new criminal conviction or sentence.
What Megan alleged, and how Lanez’s side responded
Megan’s petition alleged that Lanez continued to harass her through other people and online attacks on her credibility while he was imprisoned. Those claims should be understood as allegations made in support of her request; reporting does not establish every alleged third-party act as a separate, independently adjudicated fact. Lanez’s attorney opposed the request, arguing that Lanez’s incarceration meant there was no current or future threat and that the two had not had recent direct contact. The judge granted the order after hearing the request. ABC News, Dec. 18, 2024

How the order relates to Lanez’s criminal case
The protective-order hearing and the criminal prosecution arising from the 2020 shooting are distinct proceedings. In November 2025, the California Court of Appeal affirmed Lanez’s three felony convictions.
