Their relationship first drew public attention in July 2025, after a photo Megan shared on July 9 showed Thompson in the background. They made a public appearance together a week later at the inaugural Pete & Thomas Foundation Gala in New York.
At the gala on July 16, Megan spoke warmly about Thompson. “I never dated somebody so kind,” she told Page Six on the red carpet. She also said it was her first relationship with someone who was “genuinely a nice person” and that he made her “genuinely happy,” according to ABC News’ July 17, 2025 report.

No. Megan publicly announced that she had decided to end the relationship on April 25, 2026. The relationship was public for roughly nine months, from their July 2025 appearance together to her announcement.

Why did Megan Thee Stallion and Klay Thompson break up?
Megan said that trust, fidelity and respect were essential to her, and that when those values were compromised, there was no path forward. In the statement reported by Harper’s Bazaar on April 29, 2026, she added that she was taking time to prioritize herself and move ahead with peace and clarity.
Megan also made more specific allegations about cheating and relationship difficulties.
