Who are the new characters in Emily in Paris Season 5?
Netflix’s season announcement highlights three new characters: Princess Jane, Jake and Yvette. Their connections and settings differ, so they are not a single new group within the story.
| Character | Actor | Netflix’s description |
|---|---|---|
| Princess Jane | Minnie Driver | Sylvie’s flamboyant friend in Rome and former partner in crime. |
| Jake | Bryan Greenberg | An American living in Paris. |
| Yvette | Michèle Laroque | An old friend of Sylvie’s; the pair used to be frenemies. |
Princess Jane — Minnie Driver
Jane brings a past connection for Sylvie into the Rome storyline. Netflix describes her as a flamboyant friend and former partner in crime. According to Netflix’s character guide, Jane married an older Italian prince for his title and fortune, then discovered he was broke. She adapts by promoting brands on TikTok and Instagram. These are details about the fictional character, not Driver’s own life.
Lily Collins described Jane as someone who stirs up situations and thinks she knows best. Collins also said, “She followed her heart to a new city in search of fresh experiences.” Both descriptions are attributed to Collins in Netflix’s promotional material.

Jake — Bryan Greenberg
Netflix identifies Greenberg’s character as Jake, an American living in Paris. The official description establishes that basic setting and identity; it does not need extra backstory to distinguish him from Jane and Yvette.
Yvette — Michèle Laroque
Yvette is an old friend of Sylvie’s. Netflix says the two used to be frenemies and reconnect thanks to Emily and Instagram, bringing their relationship into the season’s present-day story. Creator Darren Star praised Laroque as a French actor beloved in France; that is Star’s assessment, not a neutral measure of her standing.

How the new characters fit the season
Season 5 shifts Emily’s work to Rome, where she opens an Italian outpost of Agence Grateau, but it does not leave Paris behind. Netflix describes the season as spanning Rome and Paris, with Venice also appearing. Star summed up the premise this way: “This season is a tale of two cities: Rome and Paris.”
One distinction matters when sorting the cast: Marcello, played by Eugenio Franceschini, is prominent in the Season 5 story as Emily’s new love interest, but he is not one of the three characters called out as newcomers in the season announcement. Netflix’s guide places his introduction in Season 4.
