The young leads of Star Wars: Skeleton Crew are Ravi Cabot-Conyers (Wim), Robert Timothy Smith (Neel), Ryan Kiera Armstrong (Fern), and Kyriana Kratter (KB). Their show is built around a group of kids lost far from home, and in interviews from late 2024 the cast described its mood as a deliberate throwback to 1980s adventure films such as The Goonies and E.T. Cabot-Conyers also recounted a stunt-training story involving Tom Holland, which is the basis of the Tom Holland link in the headline.
The four children at the center
The series follows four kids who make a discovery on their home planet and then find themselves lost in a dangerous galaxy, trying to find their way back. The cast as reported in late 2024 interviews:
| Actor | Character | What the sources say |
|---|---|---|
| Ravi Cabot-Conyers | Wim | Described by the actor as brave and hopeful, a child who wants a bigger reality than his sheltered surroundings |
| Robert Timothy Smith | Neel | Part of the four-child core group; no character description from the interviews cited here |
| Ryan Kiera Armstrong | Fern | Part of the four-child core group; no character description from the interviews cited here |
| Kyriana Kratter | KB | Part of the four-child core group; no character description from the interviews cited here |
Jude Law plays Jod Na Nawood, an adult who joins the children’s journey, and the kids travel alongside the droid 33. The first season was reported as eight episodes in a December 4, 2024 ComingSoon.it interview with the creators.
What the story is about
The home planet is described as a quiet, suburban-like setting, and that ordinariness is the point of departure. The children’s discovery pulls them out of it, and the show’s adventure is measured by how far they travel from that starting point. Because the interviews were published before the series’ wider run, the cast’s descriptions reflect their intentions and experience rather than audience reaction.

Wim, as Cabot-Conyers plays him
In a November 22, 2024 interview with The Direct, Cabot-Conyers described Wim as brave and hopeful, a boy who wants more than the sheltered life he knows. He says Wim’s assumptions about the Jedi and the wider galaxy are challenged once he encounters them. These are the actor’s descriptions of his character, not independent claims about the fictional setting.

Where the “Galaxy Goonies” label comes from
Cabot-Conyers says the cast heard The Goonies, E.T., and other Amblin-style films mentioned as touchstones. During preparation the children watched 1980s films, including The Goonies, and did group activities to get to know one another. The “Galaxy Goonies” framing is the interviewees’ comparison, not a studio-stated positioning.

The Tom Holland story
Cabot-Conyers says stunt director George Cottle had worked with Jon Watts on Spider-Man. During stunt training, Cottle FaceTimed Tom Holland, who was on set at the time, and the young cast got to talk with him. The anecdote is the actor’s account of the call; it is not independently confirmed by the production.
Who made the show
Jon Watts and Christopher Ford are the creators and showrunners. Watts directed the first and last episodes. Other episodes were directed by David Lowery, Daniel Kwan and Daniel Scheinert, Jake Schreier, Bryce Dallas Howard, and Lee Isaac Chung.
