How their family grew
The couple welcomed August in 2006. In 2011, they adopted Amaya and Andrew within six months of one another, according to Good Morning America’s May 2023 report.
Hargitay described Andrew’s adoption as an unexpected opportunity that came after Amaya had joined the family. ABC News reported her account of a call from their lawyer about “this amazing little boy and this amazing opportunity.” Hargitay said she and Hermann looked at each other and had “never been more sure about anything,” adding, “I knew it was just right.”
