ABC announced 24 men for Joan Vassos’s first season of The Golden Bachelorette on August 13, 2024. Their ages ranged from 57 to 69, and ABC listed each man’s occupation and hometown. This is the original 2024 announcement roster, not a current casting update.
Who was Joan Vassos, the first Golden Bachelorette?
ABC identified Vassos as a 61-year-old school administrator from Rockville, Maryland, and the franchise’s first Golden Bachelorette. Its biography says she is a mother of four and grandmother of three. She left the inaugural season of The Golden Bachelor because of a medical concern involving her daughter. What the cast announcement establishes
The 24-person announcement is a snapshot of the original roster, not a complete account of what happened during the season. It identifies the men by age, occupation, and hometown; it does not establish compatibility, elimination outcomes, or present-day relationship status.
ABC News’s August 13, 2024, article included promo quotes from two contestants. Jonathan described himself as “a hopeful romantic,” and Gil said he wanted “someone not to grow old with, but to stay young with.” These are their self-descriptions in the promo, not official series slogans. ABC News
