The pair operate the giant rotating rope in the season’s Jump Rope game, where players must cross a walkway without being knocked off.
Who is the new doll in Squid Game Season 3?
His name is Cheol-su. In a January 30, 2025 announcement, Netflix described the “sinister silhouettes” of Young-hee and her companion Cheol-su as having been hinted at in Season 2’s post-credit scene.
Cheol-su is a game mechanism, not a contestant. His introduction also gives the returning Young-hee a partner in the season’s new challenge.
What do Cheol-su and Young-hee do in the Jump Rope game?
In the Jump Rope challenge, the two dolls stand above a walkway and operate a large, metallic rotating rope. Players have 20 minutes to cross without being struck and hurled off. Netflix Tudum’s guide to the Season 3 games describes the dolls manning the rope as players attempt the crossing.

Why is the name sometimes spelled “Chul-su”?
Netflix’s announcement spells the name “Cheol-su,” while Tudum’s game guide uses “Chul-su.” These are alternate romanizations of the same character’s Korean name, not separate dolls. This article uses Cheol-su, the spelling in Netflix’s announcement.
