Who is Carter Reum?
Reum is an American entrepreneur and venture capitalist. He has worked alongside his brother Courtney as an investment banker, company operator, entrepreneur and investor. Their career spans two distinct phases: building and selling a consumer brand, then investing in other companies through M13.
The brothers are also co-authors of Shortcut Your Startup: Ten Ways to Speed Up Entrepreneurial Success. Simon & Schuster lists a trade paperback edition.
How did Carter Reum build his career?
From investment banking to VEEV Spirits
Before becoming entrepreneurs, Carter and Courtney Reum worked as investment bankers at Goldman Sachs, according to their publisher. They went on to co-found VEEV Spirits, a consumer spirits company. Fortune reported in 2023 that VEEV was founded in 2007, grew to more than $10 million in annual sales, and was sold for more than seven times its revenue. Launching M13
After VEEV, the brothers started M13, which Simon & Schuster describes as an investing platform focused on scaling consumer-centric brands. A February 2021 Vogue profile identified Reum as an M13 founder and venture capitalist, and named Daily Harvest, Lyft and Rothy’s among startups he had backed at the time. Those examples reflect that dated profile, not a current inventory of M13’s portfolio.
Fortune reported that M13 raised $400 million for its third fund in March 2022. That figure is the fund’s size, not Reum’s personal assets or earnings. Fortune’s report discusses the fund alongside Reum’s business history.
What he says about building companies
At an Axios event in Cannes in June 2025, Reum emphasized communication as a way for investors and founders to distinguish themselves. He said: “It’s never been easier to start a company, but it’s never been harder to be a successful company.” Axios reported on his remarks.
How did Carter Reum and Paris Hilton meet and marry?
Vogue reported that Hilton and Reum began dating in December 2019 after meeting through mutual friends. They married on November 11, 2021, at the former Bel Air estate of Hilton’s grandfather, Barron Hilton. Vogue’s wedding coverage documented the ceremony and included Hilton’s reflections on wanting a partner who loved her beyond her public identity.

The marriage brought Reum greater public attention, but it is only one part of his profile: his earlier work included co-founding and selling VEEV, and his later work has centered on investing through M13.
What is known about Carter Reum’s family?
In January 2023, the Associated Press reported that Hilton announced the arrival of a son with Reum. The same report said Reum had a daughter from a previous relationship. Is Carter Reum a multi-millionaire?
The available reporting does not establish an authoritative personal net-worth figure for Reum. Estimates published elsewhere are not equivalent to a personal financial disclosure or audited valuation. VEEV’s reported sales and sale multiple, and M13’s fund size, describe companies and investment funds—not the amount Reum personally owns. It is therefore more accurate to describe him through his documented business roles than to assign him a specific net worth.
