McDonald’s announced a planned international Happy Meal promotion pairing Sanrio’s Hello Kitty and Friends with characters from Yu-Gi-Oh! Konami Cross Media NY, Inc. announced the collaboration on May 14, 2024. The planned Happy Meal promotion included 10 collectible toys depicting Sanrio characters dressed as Yu-Gi-Oh! monsters. Jennifer Coleman, Konami Cross Media’s vice president of licensing and marketing, called it a collaboration intended for anime fans of all ages. That statement describes the company’s expectations for the promotion, not independently measured audience response.

Where was the release planned?
Konami Cross Media said the rollout would begin in Europe in spring 2024. Belgium, Hungary, the Netherlands, Spain, and Greece were named as initial markets. The announcement then described expansion to Canada, Australia, New Zealand, Brazil, Mexico, the Caribbean, and a number of Asian markets.
The company characterized the planned reach as 55 countries worldwide. That figure is the announced scope, not a verified count of countries where distribution was completed. The announcement does not provide a full country-by-country list or confirm that every planned market received the toys.

No. McDonald’s USA’s Menu Spotter documents a separate Hello Kitty & Friends x Godzilla Happy Meal promotion beginning August 18, 2026. The U.S. offer included one of eight exclusive collectible toys and was described as limited time at participating restaurants nationwide.
