POPline reported on 12 March 2023 that MC Chinesa’s mother had died that Sunday after a serious illness. The article recounts MC Chinesa’s grief and farewell; it does not report that MC Pipokinha mourned the death or made a statement. Pipokinha’s name appears in the story’s music-related context, not as a family connection.
What happened, according to POPline
POPline said MC Chinesa traveled to Manaus to be near her mother during a serious illness. Its account of the medical situation—kidney complications, anemia, swelling, and only a small portion of kidney function remaining—was based on social media updates described in the report, not on medical records. The article said her mother died on Sunday, 12 March 2023. POPline’s report

MC Chinesa’s farewell
POPline attributed the words “Infelizmente a mamãe não resistiu” (“Unfortunately, Mom did not make it”) to an Instagram story by MC Chinesa. The article also quoted her later reflection: “Deus levou ela e eu só quero agradecer ao universo por ter me dado a chance de me despedir dela” (“God took her, and I just want to thank the universe for giving me the chance to say goodbye to her”). The original stories are not independently available in the cited material, so these words are quoted as POPline reported them.
Why MC Pipokinha’s name is in the headline
The report situated the news amid attention around “Deixa de Comer Pipoca,” a song POPline described as a jab at MC Pipokinha. Apple Music lists “Deixa de Comer Pipoca” as a 2022 release by MC Chinesa. That musical context explains Pipokinha’s mention; the cited article does not establish that she was related to MC Chinesa’s mother or that she publicly mourned her death.
