In November 2024, Mattel apologized after packaging for its Wicked collection dolls printed Wicked.com instead of the film’s official site, WickedMovie.com. The printed address led to Wicked Pictures, an independent adult film company. Mattel called it a misprint and advised owners to discard the packaging or cover the link.
What was the mistake?
The problem was the website address printed on packaging for Mattel’s Wicked collection dolls, including character dolls of Elphaba and Glinda. The packaging was intended to direct customers to the film’s landing page at WickedMovie.com, but it displayed Wicked.com instead. That address led to Wicked Pictures, an independent adult film company.
The reported issue concerned the printed URL—not the dolls’ operation or content. The available reports describe affected Wicked collection doll packaging; they do not establish that every product bearing the Wicked name was affected.
What did Mattel say, and what should owners do?
Mattel’s statement, reported November 10, 2024, said: “Mattel was made aware of a misprint on the packaging of the Mattel Wicked collection dolls, primarily sold in the U.S., which intended to direct consumers to the official WickedMovie.com landing page. We deeply regret this unfortunate error and are taking immediate action to remedy this.”

Mattel advised parents that the misprinted website was not appropriate for children. For consumers who already had an affected doll, the company advised discarding the packaging or obscuring the link and contacting Mattel Customer Service. The Associated Press reported that Mattel did not publicly confirm whether its immediate action included removing unsold units from stores.
What happened to the dolls after the apology?
Retail conditions changed over the following weeks, so the November reports should not be read as a statement about current stock.

- November 10, 2024: The Los Angeles Times and TheWrap reported the error and Mattel’s response. TheWrap said retailers selling the dolls at the time included Kohl’s, Target, and Amazon.
- November 11, 2024: The Associated Press noted that some online listings appeared unavailable or out of stock that morning. That was a snapshot of listings at that time, not confirmation of continuing unavailability.
- December 5, 2024: The Los Angeles Times reported that Mattel said the dolls had returned to online and physical retailers with corrected packaging.
Those reports do not verify current inventory or the packaging on any particular doll now. A past retailer listing or the reported return to sale is not confirmation that a specific listing is available or that its package is corrected.

The Los Angeles Times reported on December 5, 2024, that a purchaser filed a class-action complaint on December 3. The complaint describes 11-inch fashion dolls based on the film’s main characters and alleges that the plaintiff’s daughter visited the address printed on the packaging. Those are the plaintiff’s allegations, not facts established by a court. The Los Angeles Times reported that Mattel declined to comment on the lawsuit; the reviewed reporting does not establish its later procedural status or outcome.
