Matt Lauer and his former wife, Annette Roque, have three children: sons Jack and Thijs and daughter Romy. The names are confirmed in an NBC Sports biography published for the 2014 Sochi Olympics; later details about the children come from interviews and entertainment reporting and should be read in that context.
Who are Matt Lauer’s children?
Lauer and Roque’s children are Jack, Romy and Thijs. NBC’s 2014 Sochi Winter Games media guide listed Lauer’s household as including his wife, Annette Roque Lauer, sons Jack and Thijs, and daughter Romy. That is a historical family listing, not evidence of their current household or relationship status.
How old are Jack, Romy and Thijs?
Us Weekly reported in a January 28, 2026 retrospective that Jack was born in June 2001, Romy in October 2003 and Thijs in November 2006. The outlet is the source for those birth months and years; the NBC media guide confirms the family relationships but does not provide birth dates.
A May 7, 2008 interview with OK! described Jack as 6, Romy as 4 and Thijs as 1 at the time. Those are ages reported in 2008, not current ages.

What has been reported about each child?
Jack
In a 2008 interview, Lauer described Jack as especially interested in sports, saying, “All he cares about is sports. Baseball in the summer, basketball in the winter, football in the fall. He loves it.” Us Weekly’s 2026 retrospective reported that Jack has kept out of public view. These accounts offer limited glimpses rather than a comprehensive picture of his life.
Romy
Us Weekly’s 2026 retrospective reported that Romy pursued horseback riding. The source does not establish further current details about her education, work or personal life.
Thijs
Us Weekly’s 2026 retrospective reported that Thijs attended boarding school in Switzerland before returning to the United States for college. The retrospective is the source for that account; it does not establish his current education or circumstances.
What Lauer has said about fatherhood
Us Weekly quoted Lauer from a 2007 Good Housekeeping interview: “Becoming a dad gave me perspective; it brought balance to my life.” The quote is available here through Us Weekly’s later attribution to the earlier interview.

The available sources establish the children’s names and provide a dated chronology and a few attributed details. They do not establish comprehensive current information about the children’s private lives, education, work or relationships, or Lauer’s present relationship with each of them.
