The identity behind the headline “MasterChef figure dies at 35” is not confirmed by the available reporting. TVN reported on October 7, 2026, that Mariusz Komenda, a former MasterChef Polska contestant, had died aged 44—not 35. That age mismatch means Komenda cannot be identified as the headline’s subject without further confirmation.
What is confirmed about Mariusz Komenda
TVN reported that Komenda was a cook and restaurateur known from the eighth edition of MasterChef Polska. He reached the semifinals of the 2019 season. TVN said he learned in January 2026 that he had a brain tumor, was diagnosed with malignant glioma, and underwent operations, further treatment and rehabilitation before his death. The report did not establish a more specific cause of death.
TVN said Komenda opened the Father & Son restaurant with his son in Środa Śląska in spring 2025. Its October 7 report said news of his death had first appeared on local portal Roland and that the official MasterChef account later posted a tribute. TVN’s report on Komenda is the source for these biographical and medical details.
Why the age-35 headline remains unverified
TVN’s report names Komenda and gives his age as 44. It does not identify him as a 35-year-old, and the available reporting does not establish which person the exact age-35 headline was intended to describe. The two accounts should not be merged into one story.

Jock Zonfrillo is a separate MasterChef death
Jock Zonfrillo, a MasterChef Australia judge, died in Melbourne in 2023. In a statement published by Paramount Australia and New Zealand on May 1, 2023, his family, Network 10 and Endemol Shine Australia confirmed his death. The network statement said he became a judge in 2019. He is not a verified match for the age-35 headline, and his death is unrelated to the report about Komenda. Paramount Australia and New Zealand’s statement about Zonfrillo provides that separate confirmation.
