Matildas forward Mary Fowler made her Paris Fashion Week runway debut on 29 September 2025, walking at L’Oréal Paris Le Défilé outside Hôtel de Ville in Paris. Fowler walked in Le Défilé, L’Oréal Paris’s annual runway event held as part of Paris Fashion Week. The brand says the show began in 2017. Its 2025 edition took place outside Hôtel de Ville on 29 September.
L’Oréal Paris Australia described the event as a celebration of empowerment, sisterhood, individuality and inclusive beauty. Its account says the show was streamed on the brand’s social channels and websites, as well as on Roblox.

The claim is about this particular L’Oréal Paris show: the available reporting does not establish that Fowler was the first footballer to walk at any Paris Fashion Week show.

She joined a runway lineup that L’Oréal Paris Australia said included Kendall Jenner, Jane Fonda, Eva Longoria, Viola Davis, Helen Mirren and Gillian Anderson.
What did Fowler say about walking the runway?
Before the show, Fowler said it would be her first runway walk and that it was outside her comfort zone. She described the chance to walk alongside women she admired as inspiring, particularly because the event celebrated women’s empowerment, inclusion and sisterhood.

Afterward, ESPN quoted Fowler describing the experience as exhilarating and different from anything she had experienced on the football pitch. She also said walking alongside inspiring figures reinforced her view that beauty means embracing who you are and the confidence that comes with it.

Fowler was already a L’Oréal Paris ambassador for Australia and New Zealand. The brand announced the partnership in March 2024, saying it would involve women’s empowerment initiatives and campaigns for new launches. The brand called her the first woman athlete to hold that ANZ ambassador designation.

At the time of the announcement, Fowler said she hoped to encourage Australian women to embrace themselves and feel comfortable expressing who they are. L’Oréal Paris ANZ Marketing Director Nadia Adelina said the brand was drawn not only to Fowler’s sporting achievements but also to her authenticity and positive influence on girls and women.
