What does “mysterious meatsuit” mean?
It is playful headline language for Venom’s new, unknown host—not a literal change to the character’s body. The gold refers to the announced visual direction for the comic’s Venom design. The August 2024 announcement framed the new look alongside a central question: who has bonded with the symbiote?

Who is the new Venom?
The announcement did not identify the host. It set the story after Venom War, when Eddie Brock and his son Dylan were facing each other. In the follow-on series, Dylan would investigate the new host’s identity rather than simply take over as Venom himself.

They were presented as suspects in the mystery, not confirmed hosts. Marvel’s official All-New Venom #5 listing described that issue as the point when readers would learn the new Venom’s name; that description signals the reveal’s timing, not which suspect is under the symbiote. What kind of Venom story did Al Ewing describe?
Ewing said the series would move toward a more street-level story after cosmic-heavy adventures. As quoted in Gizmodo’s announcement coverage, he described it as “more like a Spider-Man-level story,” while adding that “Venom demands some degree of craziness and wildness and fun.” The stated aim was a grounded superhero setting without losing Venom’s unruly energy.
