In June 2025, Huff sought unilateral custody. João Gustavo, Marília’s brother, entered the public conversation by defending Ruth in social-media posts and comments; the reports do not identify him as a party who filed for custody. UOL reported his comment: “Minha mãe batalhou incansavelmente em prol da criação minha e da minha irmã e agora do Léo.” CNN Brasil also reported that he shared Ruth’s statement with the message, “Até o meu último suspiro estarei contigo”.
What did the July 2025 custody report say?
On July 3, 2025, a report by G1 said a judge had granted Huff provisional unilateral custody while the case continued, with Ruth permitted contact every two weeks. That account describes an interim arrangement, not a final judgment.

The case has been reported as being under judicial secrecy. The description of the order comes from a news outlet’s account of a confidential case document; it is not a public statement from a judge or court spokesperson. Allegations and interpretations in coverage should therefore be treated as attributed claims, not as independently established facts about the family or the child.
Was a custody agreement reached in 2026?
On May 4, 2026, Metrópoles reported that Ruth and Huff were reportedly nearing an agreement. The report does not confirm that they signed an agreement or that a court issued a final order. The final status of the custody matter is therefore not established by the latest reporting cited here.

Why João Gustavo’s role is easy to misstate
The dispute concerns custody arrangements between Léo’s father and grandmother as described in the coverage. João’s role in these reports is public support for his mother, not the custody filing. Calling him the person disputing or seeking custody confuses his comments with the legal action attributed to Huff.
Because the case involves a child and has been reported as confidential, accounts should avoid inferring Léo’s views or adding private details that are not necessary to understand the public reports.
