Among the Toho Monsterpedia profiles with enough comparative evidence here, Kumonga ranks lowest and Earth Godzilla ranks highest. This is an editorial comparison, not an official Toho power scale—and it is not a literal ranking of every creature in the franchise. Toho International’s official Godzilla Monsterpedia covers a broad, Toho-centered roster across six eras, but it does not publish a weakest-to-strongest order. Other studios’ monsters, game-only creatures, and every minor or one-scene kaiju are outside this ranking.
How this ranking works
Placement weighs demonstrated combat results, offensive abilities, defense and recovery, special forms, and scale. Scale is context, not a verdict: height and weight alone do not establish who would win a fight. The evidence also varies by film, so each entry is tied to a particular version rather than treated as a universal incarnation.
The order below is a reasoned comparison of five profiles for which the available official descriptions provide useful evidence. It is not a measured score, and close calls are debatable. The Monsterpedia’s roster and profiles describe monsters; they do not supply a common set of matchups or an official formula for comparing them.
Godzilla monsters, ranked from weakest to strongest
-
Kumonga
Kumonga is the lowest-ranked entry here because the official profile information available for comparison establishes its scale and film history but offers less detail about its combat abilities than the profiles for Orga and Monster X. Toho International’s Monsterpedia lists Kumonga’s largest height as 60 meters and largest weight as 30,000 metric tons; it also records four movie appearances and a first introduction in 1967. Those measurements make Kumonga a substantial kaiju, but they are not enough on their own to justify a higher placement.

-
Orga
Orga has a stronger documented ability set: claws and a bite, a laser beam, telekinetic abilities, and regeneration. The official profile says the Millennian absorbed some of Godzilla’s DNA and produced Orga. Orga’s attempt to swallow Godzilla ends with Godzilla destroying it from the inside using an energy pulse. That is a clear, useful combat outcome, but it is one film’s result—not proof that Orga would lose every possible matchup. The Monsterpedia’s Orga profile puts it plainly: “But one does not simply swallow the King of the Monsters.”
-
Godzilla (2023–present)
This incarnation belongs above Orga in this editorial order because its official profile describes explosive heat-ray blasts, giving it a formidable ranged attack, while Orga’s most clearly recounted attack ends in defeat. Toho International’s Monsterpedia lists this Godzilla’s largest height as 50.1 meters and largest weight as 20,000 metric tons. The profile identifies Godzilla Minus One as its appearance in one movie. The figures describe this particular profile entry; they do not make it a universal measure of Godzilla’s strength.

-
Monster X
Monster X ranks above the 2023 Godzilla here for the breadth of its documented abilities: flight, strength, Destroyed Thunder gravitational beams, antigravity beams, and telekinesis. Its official Monsterpedia measurements are 120 meters tall and 60,000 metric tons. The profile also says Monster X can transform into Keizer Ghidorah. That transformation is a distinct combat form, not a reason to silently assign Keizer Ghidorah’s capabilities to untransformed Monster X; this ranking places Monster X in its own form.
-
Godzilla Earth (2017–2022)
Earth Godzilla takes the top position among these five as the largest profile in the comparison, with the Monsterpedia listing a height of 300 meters and weight of 100,000 metric tons, and describing appearances in three anime films. That scale is a major factor in judging the threat it presents, but not proof that it automatically defeats every smaller opponent. The official figures are franchise reference statistics; the Monsterpedia does not provide a universal battle result between Earth Godzilla and the other entries here.

Why the tallest monster is not automatically the strongest
The official Monsterpedia’s figures show why version labels matter: Godzilla (1954–1975) is listed at a largest height of 50 meters and largest weight of 20,000 metric tons; Godzilla (1984–1995) at 100 meters and 60,000 metric tons; Earth Godzilla (2017–2022) at 300 meters and 100,000 metric tons; and Godzilla (2023–present) at 50.1 meters and 20,000 metric tons. The Monsterpedia does not state a publication year for these measurements. They are useful scale comparisons, not a ranking of those incarnations’ fighting ability.
Combat depends on more than size. A ranged attack, resilience, recovery, or transformation can change how a fight plays out. The Orga profile, for instance, lists regeneration and telekinetic abilities, yet also recounts Orga’s defeat by Godzilla. Monster X has a separate transformed form, while the 2023 Godzilla’s profile emphasizes explosive heat-ray blasts. These differences make a single height-based ladder misleading.

What this ranking does—and does not—cover
The official Godzilla Monsterpedia is a Toho-centered guide that groups Godzilla incarnations into six eras: 1954–1975, 1984–1995, 1999–2004, 2016, 2017–2022, and 2023–present. Toho International’s fan guide points readers to it for major classic Toho monsters. Neither source defines “every” to include characters from other studios, all spin-offs, or game-only creatures, and neither publishes a canonical power ranking.
This comparison therefore ranks five selected profiles, not every kaiju listed by Toho or every monster ever associated with Godzilla. It does not place Godzilla (1954–1975) or Godzilla (1984–1995) in the numbered order: the measurements above establish scale, but the available profile evidence here is not enough to make a defensible combat comparison with the ranked entries. A broader list that assigns positions to every monster would need comparable evidence for each one; filling those gaps with guesses would make the order less useful, not more complete.

Likewise, Keizer Ghidorah is not given a separate numbered position here. The Monster X profile establishes that transformation occurs, but the evidence used for this ranking does not establish a comparable set of Keizer Ghidorah feats for a separate placement.
