Lust of the Dead is a Japanese horror film directed by Naoyuki Tomomatsu. A Japanese distributor labels it a 2011 production, while Netflix lists it as 2012; the available catalog pages do not explain the difference. Digital listings exist, but where the film can be watched depends on your country and the current offer.
What is Lust of the Dead about?
The film’s fictional premise centers on an unexplained outbreak that turns men into violent attackers. Women who survive organize and fight back. Netflix describes the setting as post-nuclear Tokyo and the attackers as zombie men. It is an exploitative horror-film scenario, not a real-world outbreak account.

Albatros Film categorizes the title as horror and credits Naoyuki Tomomatsu as director. Its listed cast includes Alice Ozawa, Asami, Yui Aikawa, Saya Kobayashi and Shungiku Uchida. Prime Video also names Tomomatsu and cast members including Arisu Ozawa, Asami and Yui Aikawa; spellings vary between listings.
Why do listings give different years?
Albatros Film identifies the production year as 2011, while Netflix labels the title 2012. These are different catalog attributions, and the pages do not establish why. It is clearest to cite the source when giving a year rather than treating either as a universally definitive release date. Albatros Film’s catalog entry; Netflix’s title page.
