- “Hurricane”: Combs’s 2016 debut single, later included on his debut album, This One’s for You.
- “The Grand Tour”: a 1974 George Jones song that Combs covered for the anniversary program.
Rolling Stone’s March 20, 2025 report says Combs introduced “Hurricane” by recalling that he had performed it at his Grand Ole Opry debut nearly nine years earlier. He told the audience, “I’m so glad to be here to celebrate the Opry’s big night.” Rolling Stone’s report on Combs’s performance covers both songs.
Was Combs at the Opry House or the Ryman?
Combs performed from the Ryman Auditorium, the Opry’s former home—not from the Grand Ole Opry House. The distinction matters because the event’s main live broadcast originated at the Opry House, while the program also included performances from the Ryman. The Opry’s event listing specifically places Combs, Kelsea Ballerini, Lainey Wilson, and Brad Paisley at the Ryman. The Grand Ole Opry’s event page gives the venue details.

Why did “Hurricane” connect to the occasion?
“Hurricane” linked Combs’s anniversary appearance to his own Opry history. The Opry’s artist profile lists his debut as October 29, 2016, and his induction as a member as July 16, 2019. Its debut date helps explain his onstage recollection that he had sung the song at his first Opry appearance. The Opry’s Luke Combs profile records both dates.
Rolling Stone identifies “Hurricane” as Combs’s debut single, released in 2016 and included on This One’s for You. That made the song both a familiar part of his catalog and a direct reference to his first Opry performance.
