March 2023: first public appearance and confirmation
Gage and Appleton made a joint red-carpet appearance at the Vanity Fair and TikTok pre-Oscar Young Hollywood event on March 7. On March 15, Appleton confirmed the relationship on The Drew Barrymore Show, saying he was “very happy” and “very much in love.” Gage spoke about the relationship in a Today interview on March 28, saying he felt “very happy, very lucky, and very much in love.”

On April 5, a report citing a source close to the couple said they were engaged. This was a reported confirmation from a source, rather than a direct announcement by either Gage or Appleton in the accounts reviewed.

They married in Las Vegas on April 22. Kim Kardashian officiated, and Shania Twain performed. The ceremony was later shown in an episode of Hulu’s The Kardashians.
Separation, divorce filing and settlement
November 10, 2023: reported separation date
Court documents cited in reporting list November 10 as the date of separation. That is distinct from the later November divorce filing. Appleton filed for divorce, stating “irreconcilable differences” as the legal ground. The filing also described a May agreement addressing support and property; that agreement should not be conflated with the later reported settlement.

June 2024: settlement reported
In June 2024, Us Weekly reported, citing court documents, that the two had reached a settlement and signed a written agreement waiving spousal support. This is a media report about the settlement, not a direct review here of the original court docket.

Gage’s March 2024 comments
On Watch What Happens Live, Gage described the marriage decision as impulsive and said they had not been together long. He denied cheating rumors, saying, “There was no cheating,” and referred to an NDA as a limit on what he could discuss. His comments are his retrospective account; they do not establish a complete explanation of the private reasons for the breakup.

Separate reflections in 2025
In an October 2025 interview about his memoir, I Wrote This for Attention, Gage said the relationship moved so quickly that he did not really reflect on it until later. The memoir recounts the marriage, but is not solely about Appleton.
In August 2025, Appleton reflected on the relationship on Jay Shetty’s On Purpose podcast, saying, “You can love someone and there not be a forever happy ending.” He also spoke about learning boundaries and how he wants to love and be loved. These are each person’s individual reflections, not a shared account of why the relationship ended.
