Those details prompted an anonymous, secondhand allegation that some cast members questioned her motives for joining the show. They do not establish that she was acting on MAFS or faking her personality.
What is Lucinda Light’s real name?
PerthNow identified Light’s given name as Lucinda Reilly. The Australian Business Register (ABR) entry for “REILLY, LUCINDA” lists “LUCINDA LIGHT” as a business name from 9 August 2019. That establishes the association and registration of the business name; it does not show that she changed her legal name or why she chose to use it.
The same ABR record lists “PresentingLuLu” as a trading name from 12 June 2008. The register does not describe the work performed under that name. The ABR record for ABN 84 213 358 414 was extracted on 8 October 2026; its listed ABN last-update date is 28 October 2022.
What did Lucinda Light do before Married at First Sight?
Presenting, celebrancy and speed dating
Nine’s official 2024 cast biography described Light’s occupation as “MC and Wedding Celebrant” and said she ran a speed-dating company. This is the clearest broadcaster account of her work around the time she appeared on MAFS.

Cabaret and television-presenter work
In a 31 January 2024 report, PerthNow also described Light as a cabaret performer and reported that she had worked as a Madam at Byron Bay’s Secret Cabaret Society. The outlet said she posted on LinkedIn in 2022 seeking MC or television-presenter roles; that post is quoted in the article, rather than independently verified here. Performing cabaret is evidence of performance work, not proof that her MAFS role was acted.
Why did people accuse the MAFS bride of being an actor?
PerthNow reported “whispers amongst the cast about her intentions [for doing MAFS],” attributing the comment to an unnamed “MAFS source” speaking to Yahoo Lifestyle. The source reportedly connected the speculation to Light appearing under a stage name rather than her given name.

This is anonymous, secondhand speculation about motive—not a documented finding that Light was an actor on the show. The report does not provide evidence of an acting contract, a casting arrangement to perform a persona, direction to behave in a particular way, or an admission by Light. “Kooky,” meanwhile, is the original headline’s characterization, not an independently established description.
What the different sources establish
| Source | What it supports | What it does not establish |
|---|---|---|

| Nine’s 2024 cast biography | Nine described her as an MC and wedding celebrant who ran a speed-dating company. | Whether she was acting or adopting a scripted persona on MAFS. |
| PerthNow’s 2024 report | It reported cabaret work and relayed anonymous speculation about her motives. | Independent proof of the anonymous claim or proof that her on-show personality was false. |
| Channel 4’s 2026 press interview | It documents later stage, book and television work after MAFS. | Her intentions or role when she joined the 2024 season. |
Does her later television work prove she was acting on MAFS?
No. An ABC Conversations program published on 4 February 2025 discussed Light’s MAFS appearance and her life after filming, and identified Shine Your Light as an upcoming book at that time. In a Channel 4 press interview published on 28 April 2026, Light discussed post-MAFS stage work, writing and television appearances. These are dated developments in her entertainment career; they cannot establish what she intended when cast in 2024.
