Sara Carton said she and Ben Mezzenga tried to keep dating after she declined to marry him on Love Is Blind season 8, but that he later cut off location sharing and their communication faded. Ben disputes her interpretation: he said he believed they had broken up and that Sara stopped responding after he reached out. The accounts differ, and the available reporting does not establish that either person deliberately ghosted the other.

What Sara says happened after the wedding

Sara and Ben got engaged in the pods and made it to the season 8 wedding day. Sara said no at the altar, but told Glamour that they continued living together for roughly a week or two afterward and discussed dating outside the experiment.

Sara then moved to Nashville for a travel-nursing contract. She said she expected Ben to join her, but noticed he had removed her from Find My Friends and did not arrive as she anticipated. She described feeling “super duped” and characterized the subsequent loss of contact as being dropped or ghosted. In the interview, she also said she did not want to bash Ben and wanted to tell her own story.

How Ben describes the breakup and Nashville plans

Ben offered a different account in a March 12, 2025 TikTok, as reported by Us Weekly the next day. He said he understood Sara would be in Nashville for the summer, considered whether a long-distance relationship made sense given the relationship’s fragile state, and believed they were already broken up.

Ben said he apologized for turning off location sharing and reached out afterward, but Sara stopped responding. He said he had thought they were on good terms going into the reunion and described Sara as the one who ghosted him. That is his account of the private conversations and subsequent contact; the reporting does not independently verify either person’s description of those exchanges.

Why “ghosted” is a disputed description

The disagreement is about more than who stopped replying. Sara’s account suggests she understood the relationship to be continuing and expected Ben to join her in Nashville. Ben’s account is that he considered them broken up and was weighing whether to try a long-distance relationship. They also describe the sequence of location sharing and later contact differently.

So, did Ben ghost Sara? Sara says his actions felt like being dropped; Ben says he reached out and she stopped responding. “Ghosted” is each person’s characterization, not an independently established explanation of intent.

Where Sara is now

In a Netflix Tudum update published December 4, 2025, Sara was reported to be living in Minneapolis again and single. She said distance had been good for her and that setting boundaries around seeing Ben helped her healing. Those details describe her status at the time of that update.
