What did Jessica share about joining the show?
Netflix presented Vestal as a single mother for whom her daughter was a central consideration. In a February 2024 Axios Charlotte interview, Vestal said she discussed applying with her daughter, who encouraged her: “I just felt called to it. I ran the idea by my daughter, and she was like, ‘you have to do it.’” Netflix’s cast-era profile described her daughter as 10 at the time; that age should not be read as current.
