The Lootere OTT trailer arrived on March 6, 2024, previewing a Hindi action-drama about Somali pirates who seize a cargo ship and hold its crew hostage. Directed by Jai Mehta, the series began streaming on Disney+ Hotstar on March 22, 2024. Although the premise is often framed as a mission to free an Indian ship, accounts differ on the vessel’s nationality.
What the Lootere trailer shows
The trailer sets up a high-stakes hijacking at sea: pirates take control of a cargo vessel, and the Indian crew faces a hostage crisis. The story follows the danger and efforts surrounding the ship’s release. It is a scripted action drama, rather than a documentary account.

Descriptions of the vessel are not consistent. Apple TV characterizes the attack as one on an Indian ship, while India Today describes the trailer’s opening as an attack on a Ukrainian ship. The safer distinction is that the series involves a cargo vessel and an Indian crew; the available descriptions do not establish its nationality consistently. Apple TV’s episode synopses name the vessel as the UK-Kyival.
