This is an editorially selected route through the festival’s published galleries—not an official ranking. The festival ran July 31–August 3, 2025, in Chicago; the images and captions below are credited to their publishers and photographers.
Where to see Lollapalooza 2025 photos
For a mix of stage performance and backstage moments, start with three photographer-led collections, then browse the broader event archive for more performers and scenes.
| Collection | What it shows | Photographer credits |
|---|---|---|
| BMI’s Lollapalooza 2025 gallery | BMI Stage performances and selected backstage or informal images, including a captioned photo of Girl Tones with Cage the Elephant’s Brad Shultz and BMI staff. | Frankie Vergara appears on many captions; selected images credit Matthew Berinato, Bethany R Reed, Ryan Simmons, and Attiken Vega. |
| Substream Magazine’s “Lollapalooza 2025: In Portraits” | Backstage portraits of Ocean Alley, Two Friends, Winnetka Bowling League, Star Bandz, Joey Valence & Brae, Wild Rivers, and Cassandra Coleman. | Murjani Rawls. |
| FLOOD Magazine’s Lollapalooza portraits | A feature separating live coverage from backstage portraits, with examples including Del Water Gap, Ratboys, and Joey Valence & Brae. | Christian Sarkine for live images; Bella Peterson for backstage portraits. |
| Getty Images’ Lollapalooza editorial archive | A larger festival-wide archive, with captions naming performers including Remi Wolf, KATSEYE, Doechii, The Marías, FINNEAS, and A$AP Rocky at Grant Park on July 31–August 3, 2025. | Check the individual image caption and licensing information. |
Onstage: performances with distinct sounds and scenes
The BMI Stage gallery is a focused selection, not a complete official photo record of every Lollapalooza stage. BMI dates its 2025 event July 31–August 3 in Chicago and says its stage returned for its 19th summer, with a program spanning rock, country, electronic pop and funk, and soul. Its captions make it possible to browse by artist and date: ALEXSUCKS and Girl Tones are listed for July 31, Caroline Kingsbury for August 1, and Carter Vail for August 2.
For a varied sequence, move between the BMI performances and live frames in FLOOD’s feature. The captions identify the publication’s live photographer, Christian Sarkine, separately from its backstage portrait photographer. That distinction matters when a spread mixes the movement of a stage shot with the stillness of a posed portrait.

#1 Best Overall
BMI describes its stage as “continuing a rich legacy of showcasing the most exciting new music and fresh, rising talent.” That is BMI’s characterization of its own stage, rather than an independent ranking of the festival’s performers.
Backstage: portraits and informal moments
Substream’s portrait feature gives the backstage side of the festival its own focus. Murjani Rawls photographed portraits of Ocean Alley, Two Friends, Winnetka Bowling League, Star Bandz, Joey Valence & Brae, Wild Rivers, and Cassandra Coleman. Substream’s August 5, 2025 feature frames the portraits as a return to the magazine’s backstage sessions after its 2018 and 2019 festival portraits.
Rank #2
FLOOD’s selection offers another portrait perspective, including Del Water Gap, Ratboys, and Joey Valence & Brae. Its captions separate Bella Peterson’s backstage portraits from Christian Sarkine’s live photographs. BMI’s gallery also includes an informal backstage image: Girl Tones with Brad Shultz of Cage the Elephant and BMI staff. Together, these galleries show why “backstage” need not mean one fixed style: it can be a deliberately made portrait or a more casual artist moment.
How this selection defines “best”
There is no source-published objective ranking or comparative image-quality test for these galleries. Here, “best” means a useful, varied viewing sequence: different artists, different dates and settings, and both live and backstage photography, with credits retained. The captions identify the people, dates, stages, and photographers that each publisher provides; they should not be stretched into details the captions do not establish.
FLOOD reports that “over 115,000 fans” attended each day of the four-day festival. That is the magazine’s reported figure, not an independently confirmed official attendance count in the sources cited here. Getty’s archive page displayed 3,649 photos when inspected; that is a changing archive count, not an attendance figure or a measure of the festival’s full photographic record.
Using or licensing the images
A visible photographer credit does not by itself grant permission to reuse an image. Getty identifies its collection as editorial content, and permission depends on the terms for the specific image. Likewise, the festival help page’s press-photo guidance refers to linked 2026 press photos: it says those images are for editorial use with the festival name and photo credit. That guidance does not establish reuse rights for 2025 images or for photographs published by BMI, Substream, FLOOD, or Getty.
For press and editorial inquiries, the festival help page lists [email protected]. Check the terms attached to the particular 2025 image before publication or other reuse.

Lollapalooza 2025 took place in Chicago from July 31 through August 3. The festival’s current website describes the event generally as a four-day festival at historic Grant Park across eight stages, but that page is for 2026; it should not be used to infer the 2025 lineup, attendance, or programming.
