How traditional is it—and does it sound stuck in the past?
LL’s traditionalism is most apparent in the way he treats rap as both competition and self-definition. In an ABC News interview published October 11, 2024, LL said he wanted to do “something new,” clarifying that he meant “new and innovative” and wanted to push the envelope sonically. That is a reviewer’s judgment, not a measured consensus across critics, but it identifies the main limitation: variety in arrangement and mood does not always translate into a sustained change of momentum.
