The case for Lizzo as a coach on The Voice is an appealing one—but the available official information does not identify the recent appearance behind that claim, and Lizzo is not on the show’s announced Season 30 coaching panel. What can be said responsibly is that her possible fit is an opinion, not a confirmed appointment or a verified response to a particular episode.
What is confirmed about Lizzo and The Voice
NBCUniversal’s September 17, 2026, announcement names Adam Levine, Kelly Clarkson, Queen Latifah, and Riley Green as the coaches for Season 30. It describes Queen Latifah and Riley Green as first-time coaches, with Clarkson and Levine completing the panel. NBCUniversal’s announcement and Peacock’s official show page list the same four names; neither names Lizzo as a coach.

The reviewed official sources also do not identify which recent appearance the headline refers to, or establish its episode, date, or Lizzo’s role. Without that identification, it would be misleading to describe a performance, guest appearance, or audience reaction as a confirmed event. The headline’s “major slay” is best understood as an opinion about Lizzo’s potential, not a sourced account of a specific appearance.
Why the coach role could suit her
The strongest case is about what a coach contributes, rather than assuming Lizzo has already demonstrated a particular coaching style on this program. The Voice’s blind auditions give coaches an active role: they hear artists before seeing them and press a button to select performers. If more than one coach turns, the artist chooses which coach to join. The show’s official format explainer makes clear that coaching is not just commentary; choices made from the chairs shape which artists join each team.

On that format, a Lizzo coaching pitch could center on musical range and the ability to help performers develop a distinctive identity. Her appeal as a hypothetical coach would also depend on the less predictable parts of the job: giving useful feedback, building rapport with contestants, and contributing to the chemistry of a live television panel. Those are reasonable criteria for judging the idea, but the available sources do not establish how she would compare with the current coaches on them.
What would make the idea convincing
- Coaching experience: Can she translate performance knowledge into specific, constructive guidance for developing artists?
- Musical range: Could she help contestants across the styles represented on a season, rather than only performers whose sound resembles her own?
- On-camera rapport: Would her interactions make artists feel supported while also giving viewers a compelling panel dynamic?
- What the show needs: A new coach would have to add something distinct to a panel that already includes Clarkson, Levine, Queen Latifah, and Riley Green.
These are questions for an opinion about a possible future casting choice, not claims that NBC has evaluated or endorsed Lizzo for the role.
