It is set to launch globally on Netflix, but the service has not announced a premiere date or release window.
When will Scooby-Doo: Origins arrive on Netflix?
A release date and release window have not been announced on Netflix’s official series listing or its available announcements. Netflix describes the show as a global exclusive, so it is intended to launch on the platform worldwide; that does not establish when it will be available. Netflix Tudum’s series update and the Netflix Media Center listing identify the project but do not provide premiere timing.
What is the series about?
Scooby-Doo: Origins follows the teens before they become the familiar mystery-solving team. During their final summer at camp, old friends Shaggy and Daphne meet a lost, lonely Great Dane puppy that may have witnessed a supernatural murder. They are joined by Velma, a pragmatic, science-minded townie, and Fred, a strange but handsome new kid. Their investigation threatens to bring each teen’s secrets to light.
Netflix announced the project as an eight-episode series in 2025. The story is an origin tale rather than a report that the characters’ established adventures are already underway.

Netflix’s 2025 announcement described Scooby-Doo as a franchise with more than 50 years of history, three theatrical films, more than a dozen animated series, and nearly 40 animated home-entertainment movies. These are figures Netflix gave in its announcement, not independently audited counts. The live-action series is a new television adaptation focused on how the original group first came together.
